The great Russian pianist Anna Yarovaia, born in Moscow, comes from a traditional family of musicians. She is daughter of Denis Yarovoi, famous manufacturer of string instruments, and of Olga Kiun, renowned pianist and professor.

At five, she started her studies at the special music school Gnessin, showing, since the beginning, a great musical talent. At eight, she performed for the first time with an orchestra, playing the Haydn’s Concerto in D major. As a student of Gnessin school, she performed in several cities of the Soviet Union with great success, in solo recitals and concerts with orchestras, playing works of the highest virtuosity level, such as: Concert no. 2 by Saint-Saens; the concerts no. 3 and 4 by Beethoven; the Rhapsody on a Paganini theme by Rachamaninoff and the Concert no. 3 by Prokofiev.

Before finishing the course with a gold medal, in 1990, she gave two recitals in London, at the Royal Academy of Music, one of the best musical centers of the world. In the same year, she entered in the renowned Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Moscow, considered the best in the world, studying with the famous professors and pianists Victor Merdjanoff and Alexander Mndoyants.

In 1993 she participated in the International Piano Competition in Bucharest- Romania, getting a special prize from the Yamaha piano industry. From then on, she had her talent acknowledged by the public of the several countries in which she performed: Romania, England, Italy, Russia, Lithuania, Moldavia, Brazil, South Korea, Germany, Japan, China, Philippines, Greece and Egypt.

With top grades in all the subjects, Anna Yarovaia concluded, in 1995, the course in the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Moscow, where she was approved in first place in the selection test for the Doctor’s course. In May of 1996 she won the International Piano Competition of the Brussels Association “Musical Youth”. About Anna’s performance, one of the jurors of the competition, the renowned pianist and director of the Music College of the Washington University, Alan Mandel, said, “I’ve played and heard Schumann’s concert for piano and orchestra innumerous times, but I’ve never heard a better interpretation than hers. It’s unequalled.”

Soon after, she was invited to give solo recitals and to play with the Symphony Orchestra of Manila, under the regency of maestro Redentor Romero, and with the Symphony Orchestra of Hawaii. In July of 1997, she went on a tour through Lithuania, Egypt and Greece, with the orchestra of Young Musicians of Germany, under the regency of the famous violoncellist and maestro Mstislav Rostropovich, considered one of the most important personalities of the musical world. In the same year, she won the first isolated place (without prizes for second and third places) in the International Piano competition “Free Art Tribute”, in São Paulo.

In July of 1998 she performed at the Musik Halle of Hanburg, Germany, with the famous singer Placido Domingo.

In October and November of 2000, Anna Yarovaia went on a tour through the United States with the “Philharmonic der Nationen” orchestra, under the regency of the maestro Justus Franz. Among the several music festivals that she participated, these must be mentioned: the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, in Germany; the Music Festival of Manila, in the Philippines, and the Music Festival in Londrina, Brazil.

In 2002 she was invited to play with the Atlanta orchestra in the United States, performing the third concert by Prokofiev and solo recitals, being acclaimed by the critics.

Anna’s repertoire is varied, including music by different composers, of diverse styles and eras, from the baroque to the modern.

According to professor Victor Merdjanoff, “The musical interpretation of the pianist Anna Yarovaia is highly market by her Rick creativity, artistic personality and high professionalism”.
For professor Voskresensky, “Anna Yarovaia has brilliant virtuosity, artistic personality, performing in a highly personal manner and with a deep perception of the works she plays.”

Upon finishing her doctor’s degree, in 1997, Anna Yarovaia was invited to work as a teacher at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Moscow, where she taught until 2003. Currently she lives in Germany, where she teaches at the music Hochschule of Aachen and at the private Academy of Steinway-Hausn, in Düsseldorf. During the last five years, more than 40 of her students were winners in several national competitions.

She develops an intense artistic activity as member of the Klavierduo “Rhapsodie” and as a chamber music player next to important soloists, in Germany and other countries.
